I'd always been big on keeping every little scrap of memorabilia, pictures, etc., during my years in school and after. I met my husband in 1998, and soon began a scrapbook of the things we enjoyed doing together, including moving away from my family and having my first home. We married in 1999, and I created a small wedding scrapbook. It wasn't until 2005 when our son was born, that I began scrapbooking again, this time, by creating a scrapbook of his first year. One album turned in to two albums, I had created so many layouts. My favorite part was that I had created a calendar before he was born, and kept notes on the calendar pages, then incorporated each month into his albums.
After our daughter was born in 2007, I started an album for her first year also. Doing hers much the same way I did her brothers' album.
I thoroughly enjoy scrapbooking, everything from choosing the picture, to the paper for that picture, the embellishments, laying it all out, putting it together, then creating the journaling to tell the story behind the photo. It gives me a sense of joy that I am creating a legacy for my children, something they can pass on to their children. I also enjoy being able to pass on bits of their grandparents and great-grandparents lives to them. I draw inspiration from alot of things, pieces of fabric, nature, the story behind the picture I want to do a layout with. Often times, I will buy a piece of paper, not yet knowing what I'm going to do with it, but it will inspire me to do a layout. I also enjoy doing altered letters and boxes.
My current project is an 8 x 8 ABC album for my children. I'll post pictures in the gallery as I get them done!
With the encouragement of my husband, family and friends, I have started doing custom scrapbook design for others who would like to have albums of their lives and their children's lives, but don't have the time to do the work.
